How to Organize Your Home, Business, and Personal Life to Set Yourself Up For Success
Welcome to this episode of The Determined Mom Show. In this episode, I have with me Dana LaRieal Morales and she is the holistic process strategist and owner of The Happiness Bucket. Welcome and thank you for being here, today we’re going to talk about how to organize your home business and personal life to set yourself up for success. Tell us about yourself and your business.
Sure! I am a full-time certified Project Manager for a law firm by day and then I put on my cape at night and become the Holistic Process Strategist for the everyday person. So my audience is typically solopreneurs and side hustlers because I understand that clientele and their needs. So it’s really about helping them have holistic balance within their business and in their life.
That’s where the holistic part comes from because you, as a solopreneur, have a lot of hats and so you have to put all of them on at various times. So that is pretty much what I do. I am a mom of a rambunctious 8-year-old. I am going to be 40 and I am married as well.
Awesome and Dana is just a ray of sunshine in my life. So that is why I just can’t say enough good things about her. We know that everyday life is a mess. My office is a mess and for me, it’s because I have three kids and the business and the husband and the house to take care of but you have a way of breaking it down for us. So that way we can literally understand the bigger picture and then understand the little parts and then organise them to get the stuff done.
I learn a lot from you as well. I know it works for my clients but when I’m just talking to the general public and I’m just sharing nuggets, it is enjoyable to hear how it is impacting your life.”
What is the best way to organise your whole house?
That’s what a lot of people do. They think of the totality of the job or the totality of the thing and that is so overwhelming to most people because you’re looking at every room, every closet, every drawer, every single piece of stuff that encompasses your life and the truth is that you’re doing yourself a disservice because there are so many nooks and crannies within your home.
So the first thing that I would suggest to anyone is to stop stressing yourself out by looking at the totality of the thing and narrowing it down to one particular section at a time. Try focusing on one and tackling that one area first. Once you do that then you’ll see some relief.
That’s exactly how I do it with clients, so let’s not try to accomplish five years’ worth of mess in an hour. That’s not realistic and I try to get them to stop looking at everything at the same time.
I love how you broke that down. Let’s talk about business and this is probably my favourite part because there’s so much to organise in your business.
I have three different mailboxes, you think about it, I work a full-time job. I have my business, I have my personal life. So really I have three different mailboxes and I’ve established a process that I like to call a command centre and you’re moving things over into specific categories within that command centre.
Now you’re not even going to have to deal with it because you set certain processes up in your environment that it’s a self-cleansing system. I talk about that all the time, about developing those self-cleansing systems and that’s what I teach people to do.
So it’s best to develop a system to address that from the top. So it’s not just emailing, as there are many processes that I teach within my academy, which is a community resource.
That’s how I like to look at it, of just providing people with the ability to get the answers that they need and one of our members called it ‘the organizing hub.’
So if there’s something that you’re trying to do more than likely somebody else has tried to do it in the past and so we’ve had a conversation about that or training regarding that and so that’s available.
